discoveries

So, as I have some peace and quiet tonight and also had a mofo of a day I decided a drop of something tasty alcoholic was in order.

I looked through the stash in the hope of finding something with a screw top (cos I’m all restrained and didn’t want to consume a whole bottle in one night) and suitable for drinking un-refrigerated. Alas I found nothing! It was either corked, needing a fridge, or both. As I didn’t fancy a full blown red really the choices were very slim.

Anyway, overcoming difficulties I decided that the solution was to open one of the many bottles or rose I have obtained over the last 12 months. I actually managed to get a whole lot of rose from the cellar door for a ridiculously cheap price and while it is reasonable to drink ‘neat’ I primarily purchased it for drinking as sangria last summer (summer ran out before the rose did).

Alas I didn’t have the full suite of sangria ingredients available tonight so I opted for what I would like to be known from now on as my ‘lazy sangria’. I’ve never been this lame with putting sangria together before, but oh my, it was some seriously tasty business that I will be re-visiting in the near future (more than likely tomorrow)!

What ju need (for one glass)

3 ice cubes (stfu, the wine was warm, ice didn’t water it down that much – at least the god damn drink was cold)

2/3 large red wine glass of rose

Slurp of brandy

Larger slurp of cointreau

Tiny sprinkle of dark muscavado sugar

How ju make it

Put ice cubes in glass (really, get over the ‘can’t put ice in wine’ hang-ups)

Pour brandy slurp on ice cubes

Fill glass to somewhere near the top with rose

Pour cointreau in glass

Sprinkle muscavado over surface

What you end up with is a seriously tasty concoction that will get you pissed like there is no tomorrow.

Really, I can’t recommend this enough, give it a try!
